Development Manager

Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland Local Medical Committee (LLR LMC) are recruiting an entrepreneurial individual to build on the recent modernisation of the organisation. The successful candidate will work closely with the Chief Executive, Board, Office Manager and Office Administrator to implement the strategic plan, to build and to support networks of Practice Managers and to ensure the organisation maintains effective systems to manage the caseload generated by members’ enquiries and concerns.

Role responsibilities:
  • Implementation of strategic plan with active project management of work streams with appropriate budget monitoring;
  • Support Practice Managers on a wide range of issues including contractual and partnership matters, premises and leases, complaints, financial planning;
  • Represent the LMC at meetings at NHS England, Clinical Commissioning Groups and at Practice Manager locality Groups;
  • Work closely with the LLR Training and Development Group to develop training and support for Practice Managers and practice nursing and support staff;
  • Develop networks of Practice Managers to include the roll out of a new coaching and mentoring scheme;
  • Actively participate in monthly Board meetings;
  • Work with the Office Manager and Administrator to ensure the efficient handling of enquiries to manage the support and advice cases of individual members and individual practices; 
  • Liaise with the Chief Exec, Board and LMC Officers and the LMC’s PR provider to ensure effective communications internally and externally at meetings, by email, social media, eNewsletters and the LMC website.

Person Specification:

The successful candidate will ideally have recent experience of working in a primary care setting and be familiar with the complex work undertaken by GP Practice Managers. You will be familiar with managing case management systems and of designing and delivering strategic plans. You will have good IT skills, communication skills and project management skills.  You will have budget management and resource allocation skills and understand the requirements of handling confidential and sensitive data.  Knowledge of the primary care environment in Leicestershire and Rutland would be advantageous.

The organisation:

LLR LMC is a non-profit making trade association recognised by statute as the local professional body responsible for providing advice, support and representation for individual GP practices, specifically GPs and their Practice Managers.

LLR LMC prides itself on being a learning organisation, which actively supports and encourages the personal and professional development and well being of its staff and of its members. Regular appraisals, sessions with the organisational coach and a mentor with another regional LMC will identify courses and development opportunities, which you will be encouraged to attend.

Job details

Directly reporting to: Chief Executive

Work hours: 4 days a week (negotiable)
A job share proposal would be considered

Salary: Negotiable depending on experience (comparable to NHS Agenda for change band 7-8 plus a flexible pension) – please note this post is not an NHS employed position and is not eligible for the NHS pension scheme.

Location: Fosse House, Grove Park, Leicester LE19 1SX

We have 2 separate offices in a modern and light building near Fosse Park in Enderby.

(Travel to local GP practices and CCG offices and other regional and national meetings will be required)
