GP notice periods

If a principal GP is due to join or leave a practice then the Area Team require a minimum of at least 28 days written notice of this change.  If a principal GP wishes to leave a practice and be removed from the National Performers List, the Area Team requires a period of 3 months written notice.

These notice periods are in line with the National Performers List Regulations 2013. The Area Team would also require the same written notice for a salaried GP joining or leaving a practice.

If you are employing a locum GP or a newly qualified registrar to work as a locum, you will need to ensure that they are included onto the National Performers List and attached to an Area Team within NHS England.
